For the second day in a row, a preseason football publication ranked Northwest Missouri State University in the top five.

This time it was Lindy's Sports National Preview placing the Bearcats at fifth in their top 25 poll. On Tuesday, it was Street & Smith's slotting Northwest at number two on their preseason ranking.

According to Lindy's, West Florida is the number one team in NCAA Division 2 football prior to the start of the season. Lenoir-Rhyne follows at number two. Valdosta State and Minnesota State pull in at third and fourth, respectively.

Central Missouri, the only other MIAA team in the preseason poll, is ranked 14th.

Northwest Missouri State senior offensive tackle Tanner Owen also received recognition on Lindy's Preseason All-America squad.

The Bearcats are set to start the season October 3 at home against Pittsburg State. Information on purchasing tickets is here.
